Yearly Requirements
The yearly requirements are as follows:
- Beam Direction - Ensure lights aren't glaring into the eyes of anyone who exits.
- Lamp Condition - Replace lamps with excessive end-blackening and check light sources haven't exceeded their life.
- Brightness - Verify exit signs remain bright enough.
- Product Match - Confirm that the product installed matches the product image with no modifications.
- Adequate Coverage - Ensure emergency lighting is sufficient, e.g., in stairwells and at landings.
- Building Changes - Check for modifications that might affect lighting adequacy.
5 Year Requirements
Every 5 years the brightness of LED exit signs must be tested.
10 Year Requirements
Every 10 years and at the of the light source's life:
- Serviceability Check - Assess if lights can continue operation and estimate failure year.
- Life Data Check - Verify if light source life is recorded for a sample of lights.
- Spacing Check - Ensure emergency light spacing complies with the standard.
